Big Data Is Dependent on Semiconductor Manufacturing

Semiconductors are used in computers to carry electricity and, in turn, transmit data across a digital plane. Typically made of silicon, semiconductors come in the form of chips, LED lights and transistors — all of which are commonly found in modern computers. Whether you realize it or not, the IT industry is absolutely dependent on semiconductor manufacturing.

Disruption? 7 Things I am Thinking About

As I prepared today for my panel that I am facilitating at John Gattorna's conference in Athens Greece next week, I had several discussion on big data analytics (the redesign of analytical processes to drive value from variety and velocity of data), and we were discussing the repercussions of new forms of analytics on the technology ecosystem. Here are seven shifts that I think happen with Big Data analytics (let me know what you think):

Data Driven Innovation

This morning, I am preparing with a panel to discuss Big Data Supply Chains at an upcoming conference in Greece. Interesting discussion. The debate is does data-driven innovation replace process-based innovation? The traditional thinking is to design a process and then implement software, but in the data-driven world, through the use of rules-based ontologies, the data can define the process. It is hard for leaders to rethink traditional paradigms. These include:

Supply Chain Analytics: The Times They Are A-Changin'

The Times They Are A-Changin'
Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changing
